Backyard Vineyards

Backyard Vineyards is a Fraser Valley winery on 232nd Street in the Township of Langley, less than an hour from Vancouver, which has made it a go-to wine-country escape for Lower Mainland day-trippers. Since 2009 the winery has produced award-winning BC VQA wines from 100 percent British Columbia grapes, spanning whites, reds, rosés and a particular strength in sparkling wine, including a Blanc de Noirs Brut and a Sparkling Rosé that feature prominently among its releases. The winery points to a decade of medals from national and international competitions across its range.

The visitor experience is casual and family-farm friendly. The tasting room is open seven days a week, offering wine flights, wine by the glass and charcuterie, with bookable tastings and tours available for individuals and larger groups alike. The standout feature in fine weather is Picnic Hill, where guests can buy a glass or bottle and settle in outdoors for up to ninety minutes; outside food is permitted and dogs are welcome on leash, so it works equally well for an impromptu picnic or a planned afternoon.
