Cobble Hill Winery
Cobble Hill, Vancouver Island
The property long known as Damali Lavender & Winery has entered a new chapter as Cobble Hill Winery, after the historic estate at 3500 Telegraph Road in Cobble Hill was acquired by new owners Stephen and Tricia in the spring of 2023. Damali pairs a lavender farm with a small winery in the Cowichan Valley. Under its new name the estate is experiencing a renaissance, with a full-scale renovation of the winery, tasting room and gardens, and a renewed focus on cool-climate varietals grown with regenerative farming practices, guided by winemaker Dylan Sheldon's diverse winemaking background.
Visitors today will find a property that keeps the romance of the old lavender farm while raising the bar on the wine. Guided tastings are offered at $15 per person, and the garden patios invite guests to linger over a picnic with views across the vineyard and lavender fields, a combination that remains one of the most photogenic settings in the Cowichan Valley. The rolling landscape also serves as a backdrop for weddings and special events, and a wine club brings members special events, private tastings and behind-the-scenes tours. Hours run seasonally, with the tasting room open Friday through Sunday in the cooler months and Wednesday through Sunday from May to September. Set among the farms and wineries of Cobble Hill, an easy drive from Victoria, Cowichan Bay and the Mill Bay ferry, the estate pairs naturally with a day of Cowichan Valley touring. Travellers searching under the Damali name should look for Cobble Hill Winery, the same beloved property with fresh energy behind it.
